MAD Customers and suppliers
MAD has been extended to include May Gurney's supply chain (both clients and suppliers) through a series of briefing sessions.
MAD is presented to delegates at the company's annual supply chain conference and the programme is offered to clients and suppliers.
These presentations have resulted in considerable interest from a number of organisations including Aggregate Industries, Network Rail and SITA UK.
Aggregate Industries
Aggregate Industries' Southern Area Director, Toby Pyper, said: "I first heard about May Gurney's MAD programme at the company's annual supply chain conference in November 2005.
"What impressed me most was its ability to make a real connection with employees and therefore a positive impact on changing their behaviours.
"MAD reinforces Aggregate Industries' own approaches to improving site safety culture, which is why we invited May Gurney to present the initiative to our Contracting National Executive Meeting.
"MAD was very well received - mainly because the concept is extremely easy to grasp and our directors could see immediate benefits in adopting its principles.
"Perhaps most importantly, MAD isn't just 'another initiative' but seeks to make a lasting, permanent impact on approaches to safety." Pyper concluded.
Network Rail
At Network Rail, following a successful trial period, MAD has been rolled
out to 15,000 employees.
SITA UK
And SITA UK is adopting MAD across all its operations.
"The programme is simple, direct, and addresses the vital behavioural issues that underlie most accidents," says Chris Gibson, Group Health & Safety Manager at SITA UK. "We had looked at a range of behavioural programmes - most of which were obscure, expensive and complex - before deciding to go 'MAD'. We believe that MAD is the right programme for us and we will be rolling it out progressively over the coming months."
