Electrical Contracting Services

May Gurney's electrical contracting services business has seen steady growth as the company has developed it’s provision to encompass new skills and services in line with utility market changes in investment.

Electrical Underground Cable Laying

May Gurney is able to draw on extensive utility streetworks skills to undertake electrical cabling and fault repair works for clients under long-term framework arrangements.

On these contracts, the company utilises its extensive trenchless technology knowledge to minimise disruption on major reinforcement schemes; through the use of directional drilling or similar no dig systems as an alternative to open trenching or for specialist crossings of obstructions.

May Gurney has built strong relationships with utility asset owners - by understanding their investment objectives and the needs of working in a regulated business.

By aligning design, planning and operational resources, seeking the appropriate technology and developing management reporting that reflects the needs of the individual partnership, May Gurney has successfully developed a winning formula.

Specialist Electrical Services

Through its mechanical and electrical services business, May Gurney is able to offer specialist electric contracting services for high voltage systems and switchgear typically found in industrial process plant, power generation, wind farms and network sub station distribution.

Services include:
  • Main Power Distribution Systems from 230v to 33kV
  • Industrial Process and Control Systems
  • Commercial Power and Lighting Installation
  • Pump and Large Motor Control and Power Systems
  • Chemical and Petroleum Site Electrical Systems

Turnkey Services

When appropriate, May Gurney is able to combine skill sets across its business to undertake turnkey projects such as sub station construction and wind farms - where cabling, HV contracting and construction services can offer a one-stop shop solution. Furthermore, these turnkey services can be offered to suit any element of commercial or industrial construction - such as new office/retain developments, through to any aspect of industrial process or manufacturing.

Renewable Energy

With its integrated services from construction, utility, cabling, electrical contracting and its M & E teams, May Gurney is well placed to support the development of renewable energy projects.

May Gurney has already been involved in wind farm and CHP development and is actively seeking commercially viable projects where its skills can enable these to become reality.

Service Provision

These are only a few examples of the expertise and innovation available from May Gurney's dedicated utility and construction site teams. The company is continuously investing in the latest technologies and developing its methodology to achieve the best solutions for clients.

May Gurney offers flexibility by either providing engineering services for specific client needs - for example, specialist electrical services - or integrating these skills to provide a comprehensive service delivery. These integrated services offer complete utility network management or turnkey capital works solutions to deliver major projects such as refurbishment of substations through to new office or shopping centres including all aspects of industrial process and building services.
