Our waste management team is dynamic and passionate, and consistently strives to provide exceptional customer service and best value.
We have been involved with the design and construction of landfill cells and associated engineering works for many years - working in partnership with local authorities, waste operators and the Environment Agency to fulfil a mutual responsibility to the environment and future generations.
But for some considerable while now - with the waste management sector changing rapidly - we've been working to develop new ways to deliver more appropriate waste solutions.
As a result, we now offer a full range of waste management services to local authorities including:
· Kerbside collection
· Bulky and clinical waste collections
· Bring sites
· Household waste recycling centres
· Transfer stations
· Composting facilities
· Material recovery facilities
· Residual waste treatment facilities
As a general principle, we prefer working with our customers in long-term partnerships - typically between five and 10 years - rather than on a shorter project/contract basis. That's because the non-adversarial approach we've developed is based on the merits of teamwork and collaborative working - and knowing that risk is most successfully mitigated when it is held by the parties best able to fully understand and therefore manage it.
We do not believe that PFI is working well for the waste industry. It's a 'big bang' approach that has the potential to deliver an inflexible long-term solution - entirely at odds with the needs of the waste sector.
Local authorities cannot afford to find themselves locked into massively expensive long-term PFI arrangements for facilities that no longer suit their changing requirements.
Instead, we offer a bespoke solution tailored to suit each customer's individual requirements and targeted to exceed their aspirations. Flexible solutions that can be delivered within a short procurement period, and that offer best value.
We also believe in open and honest financial disclosure. We are quite willing to share information about our overheads and the amount of profit we are seeking from a partnership contract. We are also happy to discuss a profit sharing agreement as an NEC3 form of contract, with additional profits divided between our customer and ourselves.
Finally, our waste management team works hand in hand with colleagues in other May Gurney business sectors to offer local authority customers a truly integrated range of waste management, construction, engineering and maintenance services. |
