Recycling bollards to increase sustainability

The challenge:
To encourage manufacturers to provide, and customers to use, recyclable products.

The solution:
Cartledge sets high standards for recycling.

Part of the company's sustainability target is to ensure that 80% of its products can be recycled, and that 20% of its products are reused.

Cartledge investigated the renovation and reuse of bollards to reduce the quantity that goes to landfill sites. A different type of bollard was required to provide a solution to this problem.

Cartledge has been working with one of its suppliers, SIGNATUREŠ, to identify ways to use old bollards.

As a result, SIGNATUREŠ has developed bollards made from 100% recyclable materials. The plastics used incorporate moulded-in panels that can be re-ground and reused at the end of a bollard's useful life, to be reformed into alternative plastic products - for example garden furniture.

The benefits include:
  • A reduction in landfill waste.
  • A guaranteed graphic life of 10 years.
  • A fully recyclable product.
