west oxOur service

We took over refuse and recycling collections in October 2010 and put the service through a full transformation in November 2010, including zoning of collection areas and moving to alternate weekly refuse collections with a weekly food waste and recycling service.

We also manage and operate 29 bring banks across the district as well as bulky and clinical waste collections.

We are also responsible for providing a service clearing commercial waste from street markets at the end of each trading day. We also provide a communal food waste recycling service to all residents living in multi-occupancy premises.

The new recycling and refuse service will save West Oxfordshire taxpayers more than £500,000 a year. By recycling more, West Oxfordshire will save more than £2million on landfill costs over the next seven years.

Early indications show that we have almost doubled West Oxfordshire’s recycling rate in the first months of the contract, reaching a recycling rate of nearly 65%. West Oxfordshire is now ranked the fifth best local authority area for recycling (Waste Data Flow April-June 2011).
