We’ve been working in partnership with Torbay Council (under the name ‘TOR2’) since July 2010 and our current contract runs until 2020 with a possible 15-year extension.

Under the contract we deliver a range of essential frontline services including waste and recycling, street and beach cleansing, public convenience cleaning, highways maintenance, grounds maintenance, fleet management and call centre services.

What can you recycle?

Paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, mixed cans, foil, glass, textiles and kitchen waste. Books and Tetra Pak on bring sites.

TOR2Our service

TOR2 is an innovative joint venture company owned by May Gurney and Torbay Council.

We provide a weekly collection of dry recyclables and food waste from 61,500 households. Garden waste, bulky items and clinical waste are collected through on-demand services. We provide a commercial refuse and recycling collection service to more than 550 customers, including schools and council offices.

We also manage and operate the Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) in Paignton, 60 bring sites across Torbay and a waste transfer station.

During summer 2011 the HWRC and transfer station underwent a £500k revamp to improve safety and customer experience. A collection facility for re-saleable furniture has been opened at the HWRC, with the furniture sold in Rowcroft Hospice charity shops.
