We’ve been working in partnership with Hackney Council since 2003 and our current contract runs until 2013. Under the contract we provide kerbside recycling and estates recycling services and manage ‘bring sites’.

What can you recycle?

Glass bottles and jars, paper, cans, tins, tin foil, textiles, car and household batteries, engine oil, cardboard, Yellow Pages, empty aerosols, Tetra Pak, mixed plastics, food waste and garden waste.

HackneyOur service

Our contract includes kerbside sort collections and commingled recycling collections on estates. We also operate bring site collections and recycling collections from schools and council offices.

Our service to 16,000 street level properties comprises a weekly ‘green box’ dry recyclables collection, weekly kitchen waste service and fortnightly garden waste collections. This service will shortly be expanded to cover 4,000 narrow access properties.

Working in partnership with the council, we have consistently improved Hackney’s recycling rate year on year, and it is now performing better than many comparable inner London Boroughs.

5,000 high rise and estate households have been participating in a food waste collection trial, using kitchen caddies with compostable liners, with communal kitchen waste bin facilities located on site.

The trial has been extended to a further 250 sites and with the aid of a successful leafleting and door knocking campaign to all partaking households, and speaking to thousands of residents to publicise the changes, the amount of food waste we are collecting has doubled.
