May Gurney appoints new health & safety director

May Gurney has appointed Gerry Duffy as its new group Safety, Health, Environment and Assurance (SHEA) director.

Mr Duffy joins the company from Serco Civil Government where he occupied the position of safety and assurance director, prior to which he was HSE Director for Accord plc. He is also involved with a number of national working groups and brings with him over 20 years experience managing health and safety environment systems.

Mr Duffy assumed overall responsibility for May Gurney’s SHEA department on 4 January 2010 and, in addition to overseeing the company’s strategy for safety, health, environment and assurance, will assist in building strategic business links with clients and stakeholders to ensure May Gurney is well positioned in its chosen markets.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Duffy said: “I am delighted to join May Gurney, a company that has such a great reputation for delivering innovative solutions. I look forward to working with the team to further develop the organisation’s outstanding health, safety and environmental credentials.”
