Displacement Auger Piling, or Bored Displacement Piling, are the generic terms for various boring tools and augers which displace the ground to form a pile.
We pioneered the introduction of displacement auger piling in the UK, and undertake Bored Displacement Piling throughout the UK and Ireland, benefiting many projects with the combination of:
- no vibration
- rapid installation
- minimal borespoil disposal costs for our clients
- 300 to 600 diameters
The displacement tool is screwed into the ground by a powerful, high torque piling rig. The ground is displaced laterally and downwards, resulting in very high end bearing and shaft friction values from much shorter piles than a CFA design in the same ground conditions.
As the auger is withdrawn, concrete is pumped down the hollow auger stem, in the same way as a CFA pile is formed. The auger has displaced the soil in the bore and emerges at the ground surface with a bare minimum of spoil. The pile formed is a cylindrical shaft into which a circular section reinforcement cage can be inserted.
