Midlands expansion for M&E team

Under a new long-term framework, May Gurney will be offering a more integrated service to existing customer, Severn Trent Water.

May Gurney has worked with Severn Trent Water for over 10 years under various framework agreements focusing on minor capital maintenance at water and sewerage treatment works infrastructure.

The new framework covers the 24-hour maintenance of half of Severn Trent's pumping stations in Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire - in partnership with Severn Trent Water's DLO.

Pumping station maintenance is an increasingly important aspect of operational service provision for water companies. The consequences of failure of a pumping station include poor service levels to customers and the potential for environmental incidents due to uncontrolled sewerage discharge.

Tim Read, Managing Director for May Gurney Utility Services, said: "This new contact is built on the M&E services expertise we already offer to the water industry, but brings added value through early involvement in issues relating to the operational maintenance of this important part of the network infrastructure.

"Supporting Severn Trent Water 24 hours a day will be both a challenge and an opportunity. The expertise available from our dedicated teams can support preventative maintenance options to drive efficiency of operational services and reduce capital investment costs."

This new three year Framework, with options to extend for two further 12-month periods, will be managed by established teams based at Loughborough and Bourne in the Midlands, with support from the M&E head office at Manchester.
