Scotland team strengthened

May Gurney Utility Services has supported its expansion in Scotland with two new senior appointments to its team based north of the border.

Steve Milligan BSc, MSc (pictured left) who has 25 years experience in contracting, is the new Regional Manager for Scotland, while John Briody BSc MRICS MCIarb has taken up the position of Managing Surveyor.

Prior to joining May Gurney in May 2006, Steve Milligan was Civils Director with First Engineering, working mainly on the rail infrastructure. "I was attracted to May Gurney because it is a progressive, growing company with an excellent reputation in the market place - and to the opportunity to build a solid business in Scotland from basically a standing start," he says.

John Briody (pictured left) also joined May Gurney from First Engineering. "May Gurney has an excellent reputation as an employer, and as a service delivery contractor operating in long-term non adversarial relationships," he said.

May Gurney first advanced into Scotland through an alliance with Scottish Water Contracting in summer 2005 - to help deliver a substantial sewer and water networks rehabilitation programme.

Tim Read, Utility Services Managing Director, added: "Along with the dedication and commitment of our existing staff, this strengthening of our local presence gives us a sound base for managing the controlled growth of our Scottish business,"
