New area of service delivery

May Gurney Utility Services has secured a new four year contract from Severn Trent Water (STW) to carry out safety improvements at the company's treatment plants and other facilities.

The contract has been awarded following a safety process review, which showed that some sites require improvements to maintain STW's high standards. The work to be carried out under the contract will bring all sites up to the company's new standards.

The scope of works is predominantly to improve access and egress on site for technicians and others who have to visit for work purposes, through the provision/improvement of handrails, walkways and footpaths.

Clive Read, May Gurney Utility Services' Interim MD, commented: "This is a new area of service delivery for our existing client.

"We can add value by offering an integrated approach. The combination of our M&E water and wastewater technical operational knowledge and minor civils and fabrication services, means we can offer STW timely and cost effective solutions to help them meet their objectives."

Severn Trent Water has divided its area of operation into two sections and awarded one of these to May Gurney with immediate effect. May Gurney's share of the work is initially expected to be worth in the region of £1m per annum.
