Seal of approval

May Gurney's willingness to embrace a transparent approach to quality and supply chain integration was recently demonstrated through the Wessex Framework site-auditing programme, which was carried out with its supply partner, Epros.

As it is difficult to take samples from an installed patch, an on site audit was undertaken to monitor site personnel in accordance with the detailed installation procedures laid down by Epros.

In its capacity as Amp 4 Sewer Rehabilitation Framework contractor for Wessex Water, May Gurney used patch-lining techniques to repair nearly 4km of grade 4/5 sewers in the Bournemouth area during February and March.

Two patch installations in a 300mm pipe were observed during the audit. Once the patch had cured, the end result was viewed using CCTV.

The audit confirmed that May Gurney had installed the patches in line with Epros' guidelines and training, and Wessex Water was pleased with the results.

The Epros patch - the world's leading localised repair system, with numerous global approvals - uses a combination of silicate resin and fibreglass to create a seal within a pipe from lengths of 0.6m to around 4m.
