Supporting STW's renewable targets
We've secured further integrated MEICA and civil engineering projects with Severn Trent Water (STW) under long-term framework agreements between the two companies.
The work will be carried out from our office in Cheadle, Staffordshire - which was formerly head office of A C Chesters. We acquired the Staffordshire-based M&E specialist 12 months ago, and it is now fully integrated and re-branded as May Gurney.
STW is currently making improvements at its sewerage treatment works to optimise the use of biogas for use by CHP units, which generate renewable energy.
As part of this process, digesters at some sites are being refurbished, including the one at Clay Mills Sewage Treatment Works, which we recently refurbished at a cost of £1.2m. The project included the provision of a new gas mixing system, gas holder, flare/vent stack, site wide gas distribution pipe-work, Motor Control Centre, instrumentation and site cabling.
Our project team worked in close collaboration with STW's engineering and operational staff to build a robust improved system. We carried out M&E design work in house to ensure an effective whole life cost solution.

Although there were some engineering difficulties in the latter stages, the joint project team remained focused on the outcomes and completed the work to a very high standard.
