HLB features in Construction News
May Gurney's work on the High Level Bridge in Newcastle was the subject of a feature length article in Construction News on 27 October. The feature explained that over the last three years the 'grand-daddy of the Tyne crossings has undergone £30m of major surgery'.

The High Level Bridge was designed by engineering pioneers Robert Stephenson and Thomas Harrison to take both road and rail traffic, and was completed in 1849. The bridge is a Grade 1 listed structure, and reconciling this with making it fit for use has been no mean feat for Network Rail, May Gurney and Mott MacDonald.

With works nearing completion, the bridge will once again open to the public in May 2008.
