Hat trick of speakers at rail safety forum

Three May Gurney Rail Services employees were invited to speak at Network Rail's recent Projects Supplier Safety Forum, which took place at the National Motorcycle Museum in Bickenhill at the end of June.

Russell Adams, Managing Director of May Gurney Rail Services, presented on the activities of the Project Safety Leadership Group (PSLG) (of which he is a founder member). The PSLG is responsible for improving communications and promoting the need for safety compliance throughout the rail contractor community.

Emma Barratt, May Gurney's Senior BISHE Advisor, presented on the progress of her secondment to Network Rail to oversee a pilot of May Gurney's Making a Difference' (MAD) safety behavioural programme.

And another May Gurney 'secondee', Jamie Meredith, presented 'A Day in the Life of a 365 Safety Truck Driver.'

Since last year, Jamie has been seconded to Network Rail to drive one of its safety trucks around south west England. The trucks are used to provide SHE information to, and seek feedback from, Network Rail staff and contractors.

Russell Adams said: "I was very proud to be sharing a platform with Emma and Jamie - their presentations were informative and entertaining. Although we all presented on very different topics, the underlying message reinforced just how committed May Gurney Rail Services is to improving safety performance within the rail industry."
