On track with new framework

The new long-term framework contract we’ve been awarded by Network Rail looks set to deliver around £11m of work in the first 12 months.

The framework covers the replacement, refurbishment and maintenance of Network Rail's operational property in the London and North East region – which extends from London Kings Cross to the Scottish Borders, and London St Pancras to Sheffield. The contract commenced on 1 April 2008 and runs for two years, with a potential three-year extension.

"This will enable us to capitalise on our reputation for quality delivery"

The contract primarily includes renewal work at railway stations - the repair, refurbishment and remodelling of buildings, platforms, foot-bridges, lighting, car parks and related infrastructure - and Network Rail's commercial property and depot buildings.

Work scheduled for the first year includes reconstruction of Platform 9 at York Station (see pic above), demolition of various lineside buildings, construction of maintenance delivery buildings at Wakefield and Halifax, and platform work at stations including Eaglescliffe, Sandal and Hadley Wood.

John Wilkinson, Managing Director of Project and Rail Engineering Services, said: “It’s encouraging to see significant value schemes coming through the framework, which will enable us to capitalise on our reputation for quality delivery with one of our key customers.”
