Successfully lighting up Liverpool Street

We've recently completed an innovative scheme of lighting works for Network Rail on the glazed atrium at the Bishopsgate entrance to London Liverpool Street Station.

We worked with specialist lighting designers and manufacturers, Ansorg Ltd, to develop an 'indirect' lighting scheme with low-level lamps. The scheme uses a concentrated light source directed onto a ceiling-mounted, highly polished reflector attached to stainless steel suspension units. The 'mirror' reflects light back onto the staircase and escalators below, and the lamps can be replaced during quiet periods without inconveniencing travellers.

The project was successfully delivered by our Rail Services M&E team, who overcame challenges including the difficult working environment and planning permission restrictions - the canopy is a listed structure.

The same team has also successfully delivered important electrical projects at two other London stations - Waterloo and London Bridge.
