Green light for rail signals

May Gurney Rail Services has been awarded a £1.4m contract by Network Rail to design, install, test and commission signalling works at Whitemoor Yard in March, near Peterborough.

Russell Adams, Managing Director, Rail Services said: "This project win is great news for us. It is the first large signalling contract to be won by May Gurney since we acquired the signalling management company, Hawthorns Project Management, late in 2005."

The main scope of the project is to provide an improved signalling facility for trains entering and leaving the new Network Rail Whitemoor Regional Distribution Centre, which is located adjacent to March station on the Ely to Peterborough main line.

The marshalling centre is used as a depot for the supply of engineering materials, such as ballast, for projects across the country.
