Another safety milestone for Rail Services

May Gurney Rail Services is celebrating completing two million man-hours without a RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations) accident - which equates to almost 15 months RIDDOR accident-free working.

Steve Jagger, Managing Director of Engineering and Project Services, enthused: "This is an incredible achievement. We celebrated one year RIDDOR accident-free towards the end of last year and to now have hit the two million hours mark is a tribute to the team's continued outstanding commitment to health and safety."

May Gurney's improving safety record is largely down to the company's 'Making a Difference' (MAD) behavioural programme, which was developed in house. MAD seeks to empower employees to improve not just safety, but also health, environmental and business performance.

Chris Heath, Director of BISHE for May Gurney, said: "One of the major concepts behind MAD was to support our staff to work effectively in a team - and the two million hours RIDDOR accident-free milestone could not have been achieved without excellent teamwork."
