Rail Services crosses the water

May Gurney Rail Services will shortly commence work on its first ever 'over seas' project - on the Isle of Wight off the south coast of England.

A six-man team has been called in by British Rail Board (Residuary) Ltd (BRBR) to carry out vegetation clearance and brickwork and masonry repairs at three redundant, but structurally sound, rail bridges on the former Newport to Ventnor West branch line.

Negotiations are underway with the local council for permission to commence the works in advance of the bird-nesting season in March.

May Gurney will also work closely with the local police force and residents to ensure they are aware of the implications of the works - including traffic control.

May Gurney holds the framework contract for maintaining redundant railway structures on behalf of BRBR across England and Wales.
