Support for school's status bid

May Gurney has further strengthened its relationship with The Hewett School, Norwich by donating £5,000 to support its bid to the Special Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT).

The Hewett School is bidding for Humanities Specialist Status, featuring strands of English, Drama and Citizenship education.

Tom Samain, Headteacher, said: "On behalf of The Hewett School and the Governors I'd like to express our thanks to May Gurney.

"We now have the chance to create a strategic partnership by building on existing links with May Gurney and Norwich City and Norfolk County Councils to create new opportunities of a commercial and educational nature."

Ian Findlater, May Gurney's Group Business Development Director, added: "May Gurney is pleased to be able to contribute towards helping students develop skills and qualities relevant to success in the workplace."

The SSAT is a leading body for secondary education, and seeks to give more young people access to a good secondary education by building networks, sharing practice and supporting schools.
