Tips candidates celebrate their success

Tips candidates celebrate their success

On a chilly day at the end of November, 26 successful 'TIPS' candidates took up the challenge of driving a Land Rover while blindfolded, human table football, and a zip wire and parascending experience. Some very brave souls even completed a few very muddy laps of go carting.

The TIPS for Good Management development programme is delivered by Julian Hammond of Gemini Training and Rosanne Goose, May Gurney's Group Learning and Development Manager.

The programme opens with 360 feedback and an induction, and then covers managing oneself, managing the team, managing the individual, and managing the process. There is an assignment associated with each of these workshops.

The programme concludes with a graduation day, followed by a further 360-feedback session approximately three months later.

The programme is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), and candidates receive the Introductory Certificate in Management on successful completion of an externally assessed assignment.

Proceedings began with lunch in front of welcoming open fires at Bramley Lakes. David Sterry, May Gurney's CEO, welcomed candidates and congratulated them on their achievement. The Introductory Certificate in Management certificates were then presented by Steve Jagger, Brenda Handley-Howorth, Chris Heath and Mike Dunn.

After donning many layers, hats and gloves the delegates braved the cold to rotate around the various activities. Revived by tea and biscuits, the event concluded with delegates watching highlights of the day on video.
