KLM says 'thanks for outstanding job'

The Dutch airline operator KLM has thanked May Gurney for its 'outstanding performance' in completing a sizeable project to extend and refurbish a hangar at Norwich International Airport four days ahead of schedule.

In a spectacular operation, the hangar doors - which weigh approximately 12 tonnes each and had not been opened for the past quarter of a century - were removed to allow the internal works to proceed. The works mean that the hangar can be used to maintain the next generation of Boeing 737 aircraft and the Airbus A320 family.

KLM's appreciation of May Gurneys performance was expressed by Chairman Daan Mayer at the opening ceremony

The structural design for the extension was undertaken by May Gurney's in-house design team.

The project involved seven day a week working over a 19-week period. KLM's appreciation of May Gurneys performance was expressed by Chairman Daan Mayer and CEO Onno Pietersma at the opening ceremony on 15 November.
