Footbridge safely installed

May Gurney has installed a new bridge over the A11 at West Carr to provide a safe crossing point for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders when the improved A11 Attleborough Bypass opens in early 2007.

"We are delighted with how the scheme is progressing, and we're on schedule to complete the work early next year."

Chris Shuker

The 74-tonne violet blue steel bridge was lifted and lowered into place by two 500-tonne cranes. Pupils from Attleborough Junior School chose the colour of the bridge, and are also choosing its name, which will be revealed at the official opening next year.

Chris Shuker, Highways Agency Project Sponsor for the A11 Attleborough Bypass, said: "We are delighted with how the scheme is progressing, and we're on schedule to complete the work early next year."
