Thames Gateway opportunities

May Gurney will present its full range of integrated services to an important gathering of individuals and organisations responsible for the regeneration of London's Thames Gateway and Olympic Park areas.

The award-winning Thames Gateway Forum will be held at London Excel on 22-23 November 2006. The event will include a modular conference with 160 top-level speakers, over 220 exhibitors and a dinner for 1500.

"Although it has attracted much government and private development interest over several years, the Thames Gateway has sometimes been regarded in the abstract rather than as a coherent, cohesive regeneration project with interlinked socio-economic drivers," says John Chick, May Gurney's Director of Geotechnical and Environmental.

"Recently, many projects have been completed within the development area but few have been the interlinked schemes required to drive major change through this vast area of densely populated land. The impetus of the Olympic project and advanced talks between potential commercial employers and residential developers, together with providers of infrastructure and utilities, means there is now a different feel about The Gateway project.

"We will be showcasing our range of integrated services available to development funders, statutory authorities and local authorities. We will also take the opportunity to network and attend the high quality seminars to learn about the opportunities for service provision.

"We have utilities projects underway on major regeneration schemes in the heart of the Thames Gateway and have also qualified to carry out Tier 2 specialist remediation works for the Olympic Park. With these opportunities come further 'legacy' schemes, outside the immediate confines of the Olympic Park area.

"We are expecting the Forum to be an exciting and rewarding experience, and an opportunity to promote the entire range of May Gurney services."
