Building Services has received the green light for a scheme at St. Andrews C of E VA School in North Pickenham
Good news for Building Services
May Gurney Building Services has received positive news from three customers in recent weeks.
First, the team has secured £2m of additional contracts as part of its involvement in Suffolk County Council's Construction Partnering Framework.
The work includes four children's centres in Ipswich and Lowestoft, all scheduled for completion before the end of March 2008. Three of the single storey centres follow the same basic layout and design as submitted by May Gurney. This standardisation brings benefits to Suffolk CC in terms of cost and time.
The go-ahead has also been given for a £678k project at the Britannia School in Ipswich, which involves modifications and extensions to provide additional classroom space, a new reception area, an IT suite and a meeting room. In another scheme, Nacton Primary School will benefit from an extension that will increase the available teaching space and provide upgraded toilet facilities.
May Gurney is one of four contractors appointed by the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham to participate in its Construction Related Framework Agreement.
The framework, which runs for four years, was instigated as part of the Council's commitment to achieve efficiency and best value in its non-housing construction investment programme, which accounts for around £16m of its annual capital expenditure.
The Council expects the framework approach to deliver improvements in value over and above those achievable under a more traditional procurement model. It will encompass work for the Education and Libraries Directorate and Regeneration and Environment Directorate.
Finally, Building Services has also received the green light for a further two projects commissioned under its partnering arrangement with Norfolk County Council.
A £675k scheme at St. Andrews C of E VA School in North Pickenham will provide an additional classroom, hall, servery and toilets. And Building Services is also about to embark on the construction of a £400k Children's Centre in North Walsham. The 216sqm single-storey building will be of traditional masonry construction, with a slated, trussed rafter roof.
