Harbour project makes trade press

A project completed by May Gurney Geotechnical was the subject of a double page editorial spread in the July issue of Dredging and Port Construction magazine.

Under the heading ' A neat solution for all', the article describes how May Gurney came up with a cost effective and environmentally advantageous solution to decontaminate deposits at Newlyn Harbour in Cornwall.

To overcome budgetary constraints and logistical issues, May Gurney deployed a sophisticated soil remediation technique - Stabilisation/Solidification (S/S) - to treat silts on the harbour bed, which were contaminated with organic tin and other heavy metals.

In addition to the remediation work, May Gurney also undertook the wider civils works required to design and construct a new berthing facility at the harbour.
