Missing link completed

The Norfolk Strategic Partnership successfully completed the new bus interchange, information and waiting shelter at Norwich Railway Station in time for the official CIVITAS opening on 18 April.

The project completes the final stage of the transport link between Norwich's new bus station at St Stephens and the city's railway station, and includes cycling facilities.

A tight project delivery deadline was set after finalising agreements with Network Rail and the train operating company 'One'.

In order to successfully deliver the works and resolve the complexities associated with the project a true spirit of partnering had to be established. Issues included dealing with consents and licences, working in public areas, negotiations with utilities, and liaising with the bus and the train operating companies.

The Norfolk Strategic Partnership comprises May Gurney, Norfolk County Council and Mott McDonald. Under a 10-year framework, which came into force in April 2004, the Partnership is delivering traditional highways improvements and maintenance, along with waste, environment, passenger transport and planning services.
