In the frame for BSF scheme

A consortium led by May Gurney is one of three selected to progress to the next round of bidding for an educational programme of works for North Lincolnshire Council.

The council is seeking a partner for its £80m Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme, which will transform secondary education facilities in Scunthorpe. Bidders were asked to set out their credentials, and following evaluation by specialists three interested parties are going forward to the next round.

Trevor Reeve, Business Development Manager, who is leading the project on behalf of the May Gurney consortium, says: "The competitive dialogue process is now underway and will involve bidders developing ideas as to how the programme can best be delivered. Our initial suggestions will be subject to further evaluation early in the New Year."

May Gurney's alliance partners for the scheme include NPS Property Consultants Ltd, MASS Consultants Ltd, Cranfield University and Hall Construction Group.

Tony Gosling, North Lincolnshire Council's Cabinet Member for Children's Services, and Project Director Ade Williamson, said: "We are very pleased that three strong bidders have come forward for our BSF scheme. This tells us that the industry thinks our plans are well developed and a partnership with the council is attractive to them."

The selection process will continue through to autumn 2008 when a preferred bidder will be announced.
