Praise for project team

The Norfolk Strategic Partnership (NSP) has drawn high praise for completing a traffic improvement scheme in Norwich way ahead of schedule.

New traffic lights at the junction of White Woman Lane and North Walsham Road, delivered by the NSP on behalf of NCC through a Section 278 agreement, were commissioned on 24 October - nine weeks ahead of the January 2008 program date.

Councillor Robin Knowles, Broadland District Council, said: "The work has been completed well in advance of the suggested date and everyone I have spoken to is impressed. I am very happy with the efficient way the work was carried out - very well done indeed."

David Alfrey, Design Manager, Norfolk County Council added: "I think this should go on the good news list - well done to all involved in the project which has gone very well and is a good example of how well we can get things done when we work together."

Riaan Kruger, May Gurney Agent, said: "Our success was due to a combination of new and innovative products and construction methods; close co-operation and open communication between all parties; and strong, well trained and dedicated site teams."

The use of Rhino Barriers (see pic), instead of cones, enabled the team to work safely during peak hours - in the middle of a busy junction, without the use of temporary signals.
