Cartledge hosts street lighting best practice forum

Representatives from nine local authorities in and around London joined a contingent from Cartledge and May Gurney for a street lighting best practice forum in early August.

The theme for the forum, which was held at the Institute of Directors in London on 8 August, was 'energy and sustainability'.

Delegates received presentations from Eli Sabag (Metrolight Electronic Ballasts), Mark Burrows (Mayflower Intelligent Management Systems) and Cartledge Managing Director, Graham Cartledge. The speakers covered a range of innovative measures and systems to reduce energy consumption and improve energy waste management.

Graham Cartledge reviewed a series of case studies including a part night switching trial to be conducted in Essex in winter 2006; an initiative in the Royal Borough of Kingston to reduce lighting levels where appropriate, but to raise levels in other areas to reduce crime; and a trial of the Philips CosmoPolis 'white light' system in the London Borough of Redbridge, which is delivering 25% annual energy savings.

"All of the presentations were of an excellent standard, and extremely informative," said Chris Anderson, Commercial Manager, Cartledge. "The forum provided the ideal environment to share information, showcase best practice and network with colleagues and clients."
