New business in London
May Gurney's lighting specialist, Cartledge, has added another Borough to its growing London customer portfolio - and has been re-appointed by an existing customer in the Capital.
The London Borough of Bromley has awarded Cartledge a four-year contract to carry out maintenance of existing street lighting and installation of new schemes. The contract, which includes an option to extend by a further four years (in two year units), is expected to be worth around £1.8m per annum.
The work, which was previously undertaken by EDF, was awarded to Cartledge though a combination of quality and price.
The London Borough of Redbridge has re-appointed Cartledge at the end of an initial three-year contract. The new contract commences in May 2007 and is likely to be worth in the region of £1m per annum.
Under the original contract, Cartledge worked closely with Redbridge and lighting manufacturer Philips to install 275 new lights utilising the Philips CosmoWhite 60 W lamp installed in a Philips Mini Milewide luminaire. This new generation of light provides a natural white light, which greatly enhances the environment and is, in this case, around 30% more efficient than conventional solutions.
Cartledge also holds street lighting maintenance contracts with the following London Boroughs: Bexley (22,000 units); Havering (20,000 units); Barking & Dagenham (17,500 units); Sutton (14,000 units plus bollards); Tower Hamlets (13,000 units); and Kingston-upon-Thames (10,900 units plus signs and bollards).
