Project improves safety in holiday village

The road after the hump back bridge had been removed

Project improves safety in holiday village

The Norfolk Strategic Partnership between May Gurney and Norfolk County Council is nearing completion of a £250,000 project to improve road safety in a busy coastal village.

The project involves the removal of a redundant hump back railway bridge on a main holiday route in the village of Hemsby. Local people are delighted that the work is being carried out because the bridge has been the cause of numerous accidents due to very poor vertical road alignment.

The work includes the removal of 30 tonnes of steel structure and 4,500 cubic metres of embankment material.

Work started at the end of January and has to be completed before the Easter holiday break commences on 13 April. Project improves safety in holiday village
