Partnership made in heaven

Partnership made in heaven

A feature length article about the success of the East Sussex Highways partnership appeared in Surveyor magazine on 23 March.

The article focuses on the way in which East Sussex County Council and May Gurney have embraced partnership working, and the impressive progress that has been made after just a few months working together.

Duncan Jordan, Deputy Director Transport & Environment at East Sussex County Council, says: "Since forming the East Sussex Highways partnership in September last year we have established the partnership's vision, values and behaviours, and have agreed - and are already monitoring - a series of KPIs. We've also co-located at three depots, introduced a profit share scheme - and embarked on a programme of investment in equipment, vehicles and buildings.

"We've also introduced new ways of interacting with the public, married up our separate technologies, and introduced systems to streamline the way work is carried out."

The article also talks about the way the new partnership has enhanced communication with the people of East Sussex, and how it is implementing GPS Telematics to enable those at operational level to pick up work instructions electronically, and confirm that work has been completed in the same way.
