Key Highway Services post filled

Mike Baldwin joined May Gurney on 3 December to take up the important position of Commercial Director, Highway Services.

In fact, this is a return to May Gurney for Mike, who originally worked for the company at the outset of his career after completing his Degree in Quantity Surveying. "May Gurney provided me with a good grounding in commercial management, which helped me achieve chartered status," he explains.

Prior to joining May Gurney this time round, Mike was with Laing O'Rourke Infrastructure where he held a senior commercial role for the southern region. Before that, he was Commercial Director for John Crowley, a subsidiary of the Dutch Volker Wessels Group, specialising in road maintenance.

Peter Batts, Managing Director, Highway Services, says: "This is a new role for Highway Services and Mike's focus in the early days will be leading and supporting the commercial teams across all highways contracts - as well as developing new business for the sector."

Mike says: "I've watched May Gurney develop over recent years and grow very strongly, particularly in highways.

"I was looking for an opportunity that would allow me to focus on team development, and am looking forward to playing my part in the ongoing growth of a business which has clear ambitions."
