New COO enhances service sector experience

The appointment of Philip Fellowes-Prynne to the position of Chief Operating Officer brings valuable additional service sector experience to the May Gurney Board.

Philip, who took up his new position on 14 April, has a wealth of experience in the infrastructure and waste support services sectors – at senior and board level. Until recently he was Chief Executive of Accord plc, where he was involved with a successful strategic highways JV with Mouchel plc.

"Philip has an excellent track record and shares our philosophy and culture"

Speaking of his appointment, Philip said: "I've joined a successful and growing company with a great reputation for delivering high quality construction and engineering services and solutions.

"I like the vision and philosophy here, and am looking forward to working with the management team.

"Looking forward, we will continue to deliver profitable growth through excellent service to our customers and support the continued development of a collaborative working culture as part of our commitment to our people.

"We will also continue to refine our strategy, linking business development and operational excellence to ensure May Gurney remains a safe, environmentally aware and enjoyable place to work."

Philip will take over from Richard Dean, who has indicated for some time his intention to move on after eight successful years - initially as Managing Director of Construction and then as Chief Operating Officer. Richard will stay on until the AGM in July to ensure a smooth handover.

David Sterry, Chief Executive, said: "We are deeply indebted to Richard for his input to May Gurney over the last eight years. He was part of the MBO team that formed May Gurney Integrated Services plc in 2001. He has been a key player in the strategy to move May Gurney to a service business since then. We wish him well in the future.

"I am delighted to welcome Philip to the Board. He has an excellent track record and shares our philosophy and culture. He brings valuable skills to the Board and I and my colleagues look forward to working with him."
