Safety award shortlist

May Gurney has been short listed for the Construction News 2007 Quality in Construction (QIC) Awards.

The short listing is in the Safety Management category award, and the entry was based around May Gurney's MAD (Making A Difference) behavioural safety programme.

Largely as a result of MAD, May Gurney's AFR (Accident Frequency Rate) fell by almost 50% in 2006 - from 0.43 at the outset to 0.24 by the end of the year.

The QIC Awards seek to encourage innovation, management best practice and teamwork. Construction News runs the awards, with practical advice and expert support from the Department of Trade and Industry and the Constructing Excellence body.

The awards will be presented at a prestigious dinner at the London Hilton Hotel on 21 March 2007.
