School's out (and moving in)

On 31 March May Gurney Building Services achieved practical completion of a £4.5 million project to construct a new 420-place primary school at Milton Road in Cambridge.

The challenging project, for Cambridgeshire County Council, provides an impressive range of facilities intended to replace the existing Victorian buildings nearby.

The new school - a steel/timber framed single storey structure - is designed around a central courtyard. External areas are laid out to provide interest through the use of an intricate blend of soft and hard landscaping.

The school is currently making preparations to take full occupation of the new building during the spring half-term holiday in late May.
