Multi-million pound road improvements continue in West Sussex

This phase of work, which is scheduled to take up to seven weeks to complete, involves upgrading traffic lights, new pedestrian crossings, signs and road markings. Night work will be carried out in the final week to resurface the road.
West Sussex Highways, an alliance between West Sussex County Council, Amey and May Gurney, is delivering value for money, efficiency gains, improved customer satisfaction and key objectives in the 10-year West Sussex Transport Plan.
The contract covers highway maintenance and construction services over approximately 4,000kms of roads and pavements across West Sussex.
The services provided by West Sussex Highways include: patching and carriageway surfacing and repair; drainage cleansing; footway improvements; gully emptying and jetting; drainage schemes; maintenance of bridges and subways; verge maintenance and weed control; twitten clearance; tree work and hedge trimming; reactive safety repairs; winter maintenance and emergency response; and provision and maintenance of road signs, road studs, road markings, surface dressing, micro surfacing, thin-coat surfacing, anti-skid and surface re-texturing.
