Festival audiences increase more than four-fold

The Festival attracted almost 300,000 people and approximately 34,000 tickets were sold - a significant increase on 2009 when the audience was 62,000 and ticket sales exceeded 28,000.
This year May Gurney once again sponsored the NNF’s free outdoor performance programme, known as MG Free, for which a number of our employees acted as volunteers.
Karen West, a supervisor with Shared Services, said: “This was a great opportunity to get involved with the local community in a fun an innovative way. It was hugely rewarding and we all felt very proud of May Gurney’s involvement in the free events.“
Jonathan Holloway, festival director, said: “This is unquestionably our most successful Festival ever but not just because of the numbers. This year has been about moments of great celebration and tremendous beauty. It has been about bringing some of the world’s leading performers to our region. And unleashing the creativity of the people who live in and visit the region.”
