May Gurney, Vodafone and UBS compete for European award

SSON’s annual Shared Services Excellence Awards recognise and promote captive and outsourced shared services that demonstrate winning practices. The Awards form the industry’s benchmark in terms of best practice and business excellence. Open to all captive and outsourced shared services organisations across the globe, the awards are judged by a panel of leading industry experts.
May Gurney has been short listed in the Best New Captive Service Delivery category alongside two global corporate giants, UBS and Vodaphone.
Nick Bean, director of Shared Services at May Gurney, said: “The judges were interested in how Shared Services fits with the company strategy, and in the change management aspects of the implementation which brought the vision to life. We were asked about project sponsorship, governance and business engagement.
“They also asked about people management and the culture within the
Shared Services team, and were looking for recruitment, training, development strategies and how individuals are recognised within the team.
“We were able to demonstrate leading practice, particularly in the area of customer relationship management with the introduction of Service Partnership Agreements, performance reporting and regular performance review meetings with our customers.
"I know there is further work to do to fully embed Shared Services into May Gurney but I am very proud of the level of maturity that my team has reached at this stage. One of the underlying principles of Shared Services is that we will constantly strive to improve processes, performance and customer service."
The awards ceremony will be hosted at SSON's 10th Annual European Shared Services & Outsourcing Week , 24-27 May, 2010, Edinburgh.
