May Gurney works with WRAP on recycling pilot

Working on behalf of WRAP, May Gurney is operating a pilot project to explore new ways to overcome barriers to recycling for small and medium sized enterprises.

The project comprises a bring bank service on a site at Bristol, with the aim of developing a commercially viable model that can be replicated across England.

The project will operate on two business parks where steel storage containers to collect the recyclable materials will be located in accessible places.

Businesses that sign up to the scheme will be able to recycle glass, cardboard, paper, cans and plastic bottles.

By offering a bring bank solution to enable nearby SMEs to recycle, WRAP hopes that barriers - including lack of storage, difficulties in obtaining recycling collections, and lack of incentive to recycle – can be overcome.

A second project will trial a new model using a bring bank next to a cash and carry warehouse on Merseyside.

WRAP will review the pilots after six months and if successful will encourage wider roll out of these models.
