NNF 2010 programme announced

The line up for the Norfolk & Norwich Festival (NNF) 2010, sponsored by May Gurney, has been announced.

From 7-22 May the city of Norwich will be transformed into an enormous theatre cum concert hall cum playground as the Festival's ambitious programme unfolds.

May Gurney is sponsoring the NNF for a fourth year, alongside a commitment to further strengthen its engagement with young people.

In 2010 May Gurney is once again sponsoring the NNF’s free outdoor performance programme, known as MG Free, which reached an estimated audience of 34,000 in 2009.

May Gurney is also further developing its MG Young Promoters’ project, which was introduced in spring 2009 to help young people aged 16-25 years gain valuable experience in event marketing and promotion.

With more than 350 performances in 16 days, NNF is one of the top five city festivals in the UK. This year's highlights include the UK premiere of the momentous new work by Jordi Savall, Jerusalem: a city of two peaces and a host of commissions and premieres in the worlds of music, dance, theatre and visual arts as well as a major programme of free outdoor events, installations and spectaculars.

Jonathan Holloway, artistic director and chief executive, said: “The scale, breadth and sheer audacity of this year's Festival is testament to the energy, drive and appetite for performing and visual arts in the East of England.”

NNF supporters include Arts Council England, Norfolk County Council, Norwich City Council and National Express East Anglia.

Footnote: May Gurney’s partnership with the NNF was recognised in the East Arts & Business Awards, which were presented in February 2010. It won the ‘Ernst & Young A&B Young People Award’, which recognises a partnership that has harnessed the power of the arts to engage young people.
