New building celebrated

The ‘birth’ of a new building we’re constructing for the Morley Agricultural Centre was celebrated at a sod cutting ceremony on 16 April.

Nick Steed, Chairman of the Morley Agricultural Foundation, which supports farming in the East of England, said: “This is a really big move for us and it’s a very exciting time.

“We would like to thank May Gurney and its associated contractors for their help, and for enabling us to move forward into a new era.”

The new building will provide office accommodation for the Foundation, including a modern conference facility. An in-ground heat extraction system and high specification for insulation will help minimise the building’s carbon footprint.

Steven Hubbard, Site Manager, said: “We shall be using an environmentally friendly heat resourced system and are aiming for the Foundation to have the new premises by Christmas 2008.”

Lord Townshend, President of the Morley Agricultural Foundation, performed the sod cutting ceremony.
