Big step forward for Bognor Regis School

An upgraded footpath, improved cycle storage facilities and a School Safety Zone provides Downview Primary School with more accessible and safer routes to school by walking and cycling.
The new footpath not only provides schoolchildren with a safe and environmentally friendly route to school, but is also a great link to the sea for the local community.
The School Safety Zone comprises new road markings and flashing signs, which operate between school opening and closing times when an advisory 20mph speed limit applies.
And extra cycle and scooter storage has almost trebled the capacity at the school.
John Lippitt, Downview’s premises manager, said: “The new bike racks have been a huge success. They mean more people can ride in knowing they can lock their bike away safely. The scooter racks are a surprise success – many of the children are using them.”
Councillor George Blampied added: “Downview is a perfect example of how by doing little things, we can make a big difference.
“The promotion of sustainable transport not only helps the environment, but also helps keep more cars from parking in neighbouring streets around the school – and the routes to walk to and from school are safer.”
