Ealing wins top award at MJ Awards
The London Borough of Ealing was named Best Achieving Council of the Year for the way it has displayed consistent and real improvement coupled with a constant ear to its public's concerns.
Ealing’s submission document specifically mentions waste collection, street cleansing and recycling services provided by May Gurney.
Over the last year, local residents’ satisfaction with refuse collection services has increased from 76% to 83%, and similarly with street cleaning has increased from 65% to 76%.
Residents enjoy same day refuse and recycling collections, and the streets are cleaned the day after collections. The council has also introduced a new street-washing programme.
The document goes on to say that year-end performance showed that Ealing’s streets were significantly cleaner and recycling rates had hit the Government’s 30% target two years early.
Recycling rates have improved by 39% over the last three years, and Ealing is currently exceeding ambitious recycling and composting targets.
