Plans for new landmark group office unveiled

The new office building, which incorporates environmental best practice, will be the centrepiece of an exciting business park development that will regenerate the area. The outline plans have the support of the local community and the development of urban brown field land is a regional priority as part of the East of England Plan.
The proposed design, from leading firm Hudson Architects, demonstrates May Gurney's commitment to sustainable business practices. It includes solar hot water panels and sun pipes, solar shading, water saving technologies and sustainable building materials that compliment the building’s natural setting on the Rivers Yare and Tas.
The new building includes 3,235 sq. m of largely open-plan office space in two buildings connected by a glass atrium. Because of its situation on a flood plain, and to guard against the future effects of climate change, the office will be accessed by a raised road and footway and partly erected on stilts.
The building is the next step in our commitment to making changes in working practices to address the problems associated with climate change and sustainability. Our employee-led 'Environment Champions' initiative has already delivered waste reductions of 25% and energy savings of more than 5% - and the new offices promise a step-change in these positive environmental gains.
Ian Findlater, group business development director, said: "This is great news because we get a cutting-edge, environmentally sound design that perfectly aligns with our aim to run a truly sustainable business. It also reflects our position as one of the country's most successful infrastructure services companies.”
A key advantage of the new office is that it will be easily accessible by public transport, walking and cycling – which is part of our travel plan to reduce our carbon impact.
