Prestigious award for High Level Bridge team

In conjunction with our customer Network Rail and design consultants Mott MacDonald, we’ve picked up yet another prestigious award for the refurbishment and strengthening of the iconic High Level Bridge in Newcastle upon Tyne.

This latest accolade is the 2008 Historic Bridge and Infrastructure Award, which was presented at a ceremony at the ICE Headquarters in London on 13 November. The judges described the project as ‘an exemplar of how to tackle a significant historic structure using existing technologies and significant engineering knowledge and craftsmanship’.

'These award wins are a tribute to the dedication, professionalism and commitment demonstrated by all those involved'

The award was accepted on behalf of May Gurney by John Wilkinson (MD Project and Rail Engineering Services) and Phil Batley (commercial manager).

In September, the same project also won the Civil Engineering Achievement of the Year category at the 2008 National Rail Awards ceremony.

John Wilkinson said: “These award wins are a tribute to the dedication, professionalism and commitment demonstrated by all those involved in this challenging project.”
