North Lincs BSF competitive dialogue continues

North Lincolnshire Council has invited May Gurney and its consortium partners to resume competitive dialogue in connection with the £80m first phase of its Building Schools for the Future Programme.

The welcome news came after the council’s evaluation panel completed its interim assessment of the three bids submitted on 20 June. The panel considered all aspects of the proposals, not least our team’s overall approach to partnership working and the way in which we intend to support the council in its aim to transform educational performance throughout its secondary schools.

Between now and the end of November, members of the consortium will continue to meet regularly with a variety of working groups to further develop and enhance our offer. This will include finalising the design of two sample projects in Scunthorpe - Melior Community College and Brumby Engineering College - as well as fine tuning plans to construct a common digital platform that will enable the creation of an innovative and widely accessible virtual learning environment.

Following completion of the dialogue phase, the May Gurney consortium will, along with a second bidder, be asked to prepare and submit its final proposals.

The council will then embark on a further period of evaluation before announcing a Preferred Bidder early in 2009. It is expected that financial close on the project will be achieved in time for the newly formed Local Education Partnership (LEP) to begin delivering the eagerly anticipated programme of improvements next April.

Robert Russell, Building Services director, commented: “It’s fantastic news. Our consortium is fully intent on developing a compelling proposal that will reflect North Lincolnshire Council’s ambition to transform the way in which it delivers education to its young people. We are convinced that the team has the right mix of expertise and experience to make it happen.”

May Gurney’s consortium partners include NPS Property Consultants Limited, MASS Consultants Limited, John Packer Associates, Cranfield University, Experteese Limited, Norfolk County Services Limited, Cole Jarman Associates and Hall Construction Limited.
